Bondaide P-1500
The Bond Aid® Epoxy Putty (P-1500) is a very fast-setting epoxy for permanent repairs to your rockets or other broken items. It has a million uses around the house and will be your go-to choice for fixing things because it hardens fully in 20 minutes. For rocketry, it is great for quick field repairs like:
- Reattaching broken fins
- Quick repair of a zippered body tube
- Launch lugs that popped off
- Making rail button stand-offs
- Making a camera hood
- Adding nose weight to your rocket to improve stability
- Sculpting fairings for odd-ball objects
- Adding weight (that doesn't fall off) to trim gliders for level flight
- Bonding in bulkheads inside a nose cone
- Fixing gaps between parts
- Anchoring the shock cord inside a nose cone
- Anchoring the shock cord inside the rocket
Just a friendly warning: Don't lend your stick to others... you probably won't get it back! You might want to have two sticks in your range box, just in case that happens.
One of the handy things you'll find about the Bond Aide Epoxy Putty is that it is convenient to use. It is packaged so that the two parts of the epoxy are in a log. There is no weighing each of the parts to make sure you get the right proportions. Just cut off a section with a pocket knife and begin kneading to mix it together. You always have the right proportions.
Doesn't it cure if it is stored like this? Nope. It has a shelf life of 24 months, which is as good or better than other epoxies. It stays fresh until you start kneading it to get a uniform color.
The manufacturer says it can be applied to surfaces such as metal, wood, glass, concrete, ceramics, and plastics. When cured, it can be tapped, drilled, machined, sawed, filed, sanded, or painted. It is for interior or exterior use, and is resistant to water, temperature, and chemical extremes. P-1500 epoxy contains no solvents or VOC's. It is non-flammable and releases no noxious fumes. There is no shrinkage or pull-away from surfaces.
